"US Deploys 300 Troops to Middle East Amid Israel-Hamas Conflict"

The US Defense Department is deploying 300 troops to the Middle East to deter outside groups from escalating the Israel-Hamas conflict and protect US troops against drone attacks from Iran-backed militias. These troops are part of a larger group of 2,000 stateside troops on standby since earlier this month. The additional troops will provide support and capabilities such as explosive ordnance disposal and communications. The surge of US personnel in the region includes carrier strike groups, an amphibious ready group, fighter squadrons, and air defense units. Since October 17, there have been 27 drone attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria, with six occurring after the US struck two facilities in Syria linked to Iran-backed militias.
