Northern Lights illuminate skies across Midwest and beyond.

A severe solar storm, the strongest in the world since 2017, allowed people as far south as Texas and Arizona to see the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights were spotted over Missouri, but not over Kansas City due to cloud cover. The storm is not expected to produce the strength needed for the lights to show over Kansas City in the near future. The Northern Lights are notoriously difficult to predict, and a storm of this magnitude only happens once or twice each decade.
