Astrobotic Technology's moon landing attempt is in jeopardy after its spacecraft developed a critical fuel leak just hours after launch, dimming hope for the planned moon landing on Feb. 23. The Pittsburgh-based company's lander, named Peregrine, is facing a critical loss of fuel, threatening its ability to soft land on the moon. The trouble was reported about seven hours after the predawn liftoff from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and the company estimated that the lander would start losing solar power in about 40 hours. NASA had given the company millions to build and fly its own lunar lander as part of the Artemis program, which aims to return astronauts to the moon's surface within the next few years.
