Arizona Braces for Severe Storms and Potential Flooding

A strong storm system off the coast of Southern California is moving onshore, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to Phoenix. Showers will develop after midnight on Friday, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected by 9 am. Accumulations of up to an inch of rain are common, with higher amounts expected. A Flood Watch has been issued for central Arizona, including metro Phoenix. Snow is expected above 7,000 feet, primarily along the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains, with Flagstaff potentially receiving 2-4 inches. Rain will taper off on Friday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms continuing into Saturday. The cool air will persist throughout the holiday weekend.
