California is set to experience its 12th atmospheric river of the year, bringing heavy precipitation and strong winds. The heaviest rain is expected to fall on Tuesday morning and afternoon, with most communities getting between 1 and 3 inches of rain. Mountain and hill areas could see as much as 4 inches. The Central California coast is the biggest area of concern, with the Santa Cruz Mountains and Big Sur coastal areas expected to get 2.5 inches of rain, while the Santa Lucia Range may get up to 3.5 inches. The Sierra Nevada and surrounding cities are under Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Storm Watches, with up to 4 feet of snow expected at high altitudes and wind gusts between 60 and 80 mph.
