TL;DR
Chicago and the surrounding area are bracing for up to a foot of snow on Friday, with a winter weather system expected to bring significant accumulation and high winds. Travel on Friday night is expected to be difficult, if not impossible, and temperatures could fall into the teens on Saturday, with Sunday being bitterly cold. This snowstorm marks the end of an unseasonably warm winter in Chicago, with no mild weather expected to return soon.
