Impending Severe Storms and Heavy Rainfall Expected in Triangle and D.C.-Area

Intense thunderstorms are moving across the Triangle and central North Carolina, with a Level 2 risk for severe weather. More than 35,000 customers are without power, and flash flooding is a concern due to heavy rainfall rates. The main threat is damaging straight-line winds, with the possibility of hail. Durham and Orange counties are under a Flash Flood Warning. The storms are expected to affect the entire viewing area, but should clear out by late afternoon.
