Impending Storms and Tornadoes Pose Threat to Texas, Including Houston

Texas, including the Houston area, is under a tornado threat as a storm system develops in the southern Plains. Severe thunderstorms are expected to move across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas, with the greatest risk of tornadoes in southeastern Texas. Storms in southwestern Louisiana could also produce a tornado. In addition to tornadoes, severe thunderstorms may bring hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall. The storm system will continue to track into the Mississippi Valley, bringing much-needed rain to areas suffering from exceptional drought. Additional severe thunderstorms are possible on Friday in Louisiana, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle. November marks the start of a secondary severe weather season in the South.
