Cooling centers are opening across Northern California in preparation for a forecasted heat wave with temperatures ranging from 102 to 110 degrees. Cities and counties, including Sacramento, Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights, Galt, Folsom, Yuba County, and Sutter County, are providing respite centers and extended business hours to help residents stay cool. Public libraries, community centers, and specific locations like the Sam & Bonnie Pannell Community Center and the Outreach Engagement Center will be open during regular or extended hours. Free rides to cooling centers are also being offered by Sacramento Regional Transit.
