"Plains and Midwest Prepare for Impending Severe Weather Outbreak"

A classic springtime storm system is expected to trigger a multi-day severe weather outbreak in the American heartland early next week, with communities along the Interstate 35 corridor from North Texas through Kansas being at most risk on Monday and the threat expanding to the Great Lakes and Lower Mississippi River Valley on Tuesday. The system may produce discrete thunderstorms with the potential for significant tornadoes, and behind it, much colder air is expected to filter into much of the northern tier of the country.
