"Potential for Massive Lake Effect Snowfall Threatens Tug Hill and Western NY"

The National Weather Service has issued a lake effect snow warning for Tug Hill and Western New York, with total snow accumulations of 9 to 16 inches and local amounts up to 20 inches possible. Strong west winds will cause blowing and drifting snow, with snowfall rates reaching 1 to 2 inches per hour. The snow is expected to start on Monday and continue through Wednesday, impacting areas such as the Tug Hill plateau, Western New York, and the NY Thruway corridor. Syracuse is expected to receive about 3 inches of snow.
