"Scorching Heat Wave Sweeps Midwest and Northeast, Raising Concerns of Heat-Related Illnesses"

A heat wave is set to hit the Midwest and Northeast, bringing the hottest weather of the summer so far. Highs will surge towards 100 degrees in some Midwest cities and well into the 90s in the Northeast. At least 45 states and over 100 million Americans will experience temperatures of 90 degrees or higher this week. The Midwest will see extreme heat, with St. Louis expecting highs of at least 100 degrees. Chicago will also experience its first heat wave of the summer. However, relief is in sight as cooler air is forecasted to spread across the regions by Sunday and into next week. The Southwest, particularly Phoenix, will continue to bake with temperatures of 110 degrees or higher expected for the rest of the week.
