Severe storms threaten East Coast with damaging winds and hail.

A broken line of strong to severe storms is likely to sweep across D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia from west to east late Monday afternoon or evening. The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center has placed most of the immediate D.C. area and points east under a Level 3 of 5 severe thunderstorm risk. The main severe storm threats are scattered instances of damaging wind gusts near or over 60 mph and some hail. We may also see another round of storms Tuesday.
