"Three Waves of Early Homo Sapiens Migration into Europe Revealed by Stone Tools and Fossil Jawbone"

A new study suggests that the first modern humans migrated to Europe in three waves during the Paleolithic period. The study analyzed stone tool technology across western Eurasia and identified three distinct technological phases in both regions, suggesting three distinct waves of migration of Homo sapiens across Europe. These trans-Mediterranean technological connections allow for a reinterpretation of the pattern of human arrival in Europe and its precise relations with the Levantine region. The study also suggests that the Chatelperronian culture, one of the first modern traditions in western Europe and since then attributed to Neanderthals, should in fact signal the second wave of Homo sapiens migration in Europe.
