Asteroid 2023 DZ2 to safely pass between Earth and moon this weekend.

An asteroid estimated to be between 130 and 300 feet in size will pass harmlessly between Earth and the moon's orbit on Saturday, offering astronomers a chance to study it from just over 100,000 miles away. While asteroid flybys are common, it's rare for one so big to come so close. There is no chance of it striking Earth, but its close approach offers a great opportunity for observations and good practice for planetary defense if and when a dangerous asteroid heads our way.
