"Get Ready for Spectacular Meteor Showers in December"

The Geminid meteor shower, the only multicolored meteor shower of the year, will peak on December 13 and 14. With up to 120 meteors per hour predicted, it is expected to be the most prolific display of "shooting stars" in the Northern Hemisphere for 2023. The shower's radiant point, the constellation Gemini, will be high above the horizon after dark, making it the best time to view the Geminids. These bright and fast meteors can be yellow, white, or green. Unlike other meteor showers caused by comets, the Geminids are caused by an asteroid named 3200 Phaethon. Skywatchers are advised to use the naked eye or consider investing in stargazing binoculars or a small telescope.
