Saturn's Rings: Surprisingly Young.

A new study led by physicist Sascha Kempf at the University of Colorado Boulder has determined that Saturn's rings are no more than 400 million years old, much younger than the planet itself. The researchers arrived at this conclusion by studying the accumulation of dust on the rings, using data collected by NASA's Cassini spacecraft from 2004 to 2017. The study provides closure to a question that has puzzled scientists for centuries, but the origin of the rings remains a mystery.
