"Unveiling the Universe's Brightest and Hungriest Black Hole"

Australian astronomers have discovered a supermassive black hole-powered quasar, located 12 billion light-years from Earth, that is 500 trillion times brighter than our sun and devours the equivalent of one sun every day. The black hole, previously mistaken for a star, is roughly 17 billion times the size of our solar system’s sun and is releasing an incredible amount of heat and light. This discovery, published in the journal Nature Astronomy, has astounded astronomers and sheds light on the violent and chaotic nature of the universe's early days.
