"What Lies Beyond the Black Hole's Image: The Next Frontier"

After successfully capturing an image of a black hole, a group of international researchers led by the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard and Smithsonian (CfA) is now planning the next step: a closer study of the photon rings that encircle black holes. The mission, called the Event Horizon Explorer (EHE), aims to improve the sharpness of the images by a factor of 10, revealing photon rings that provide proof of black holes spinning and dragging space-time along with them.
