Accelerating Meltdown: Greenland's Glaciers Vanishing at Alarming Speed

Two separate studies reveal that Greenland's mountain glaciers and floating ice shelves are melting at an accelerated rate, with some glaciers retreating twice as fast as they did before the turn of the century. Glaciers in southern Greenland have become shorter by 18% on average since 2000, and glaciers elsewhere on the island have become shorter by 5 to 10%. The melting ice contributes significantly to global sea level rise and poses risks to local ecosystems, biodiversity, and water resources.
