"Asia's Bee Pollinators Face Alarming Threat: A Warning Sting"

Scientists warn that bee pollinators in Asia, which make up 15% of the world's known bee species but only have 1% of records, could be at risk due to habitat loss, urbanization, pollutants, climate change, and other human activities. The lack of knowledge about bee species and their habitats is a major obstacle to conservation efforts. The authors call for conservation work to focus on flagship social species such as native honey bees, stingless bees, and bumble bees, as well as trans-border partnerships and restoration of threatened habitats. Multi-disciplinary and cross-sectoral efforts are needed to effectively manage and conserve bee populations in Asia.
