"Endangered Discovery: Southernmost Crocodile Newt Sets New Species Record"

A new species of crocodile newt, Tylototriton ngoclinhensis, has been discovered in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. This colorful species represents the southernmost distribution range of the genus Tylototriton and sets an elevational record for the genus in the country. The Ngoc Linh Crocodile Newt is currently known only from the Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve and is considered a micro-endemic species at risk of extinction. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this newly described species, which is automatically protected under international and Vietnamese regulations.
