Record-Calving in Greenland: A Time-Lapse Proof of Rapid Ice Loss

Photographer James Balog and crew captured the largest glacier calving event ever filmed in Greenland while filming time-lapse sequences for the Extreme Ice Survey. The ice chunk, enormous enough to rival Manhattan in size, underscores rapid Arctic ice loss and climate change—an issue Balog moved from skepticism to advocacy after 2005.
