Massive Solar Hole to Blast Earth with Solar Winds

A giant coronal hole, about 30 times the size of Earth, has been spotted on the sun, which is blasting rapid solar winds into space. The relatively-harmless winds are expected to reach Earth by Friday, causing a more vibrant aurora borealis. Coronal holes are part of the sun's normal activity, but their origins are unclear. As solar activity increases, coronal mass ejections and powerful solar flares will become more common, which can surge power grids and fry satellites.
