Reducing errors in psychology literature with a statistics spell-checker.

Statcheck, an online tool designed to detect statistical errors, has been found to significantly reduce the number of mistakes creeping into scientific papers. Developed by Michèle Nuijten, a methodologist at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, the tool has been applied to tens of thousands of psychology studies during peer review and by authors themselves. Several journals have now implemented statcheck in their peer-review processes, leading to a more than fourfold reduction in errors in reported P values compared with those that have not implemented it.
