Black Hole Images Challenge Gravity Theories

Researchers have used images of supermassive black holes, Sagittarius A* and M87*, to challenge the mimetic gravity theory, which posits an alternative explanation for gravity without dark matter and dark energy. The images, captured by the Event Horizon Telescope, align closely with predictions from Einstein's general relativity, effectively ruling out baseline mimetic gravity. This supports the existence of dark matter and dark energy, emphasizing the need for any gravity theory to align with both cosmological and black hole observations.
