NASA Launches Rockets to Create Artificial Clouds Under Auroras in Norway

NASA launched two rockets from Andøya Space Center in Norway as part of the Vorticity Experiment (VortEx) to study energy flow in the turbopause, a region where the mesosphere and thermosphere meet. The rockets released trimethyl aluminum, creating artificial clouds to observe gravity wave interactions, coinciding with a geomagnetic storm that produced vibrant auroras.
