Northern Lights Frequency Expected to Increase in Colorado.

Colorado residents may have more opportunities to see the Northern Lights in the coming months due to increasing solar storm activity predicted through 2024. Solar flares and Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) cause the Northern Lights, which occur when charged particles from the sun interact with Earth's atmosphere. The Space Weather Prediction Center in Boulder monitors solar activity and warns industries that can be impacted by CMEs. While sightings of the aurora borealis aren't the center's focus, scientists there get excited about it when it occurs.
