NASA's Antarctic Mission: Exploring Cosmic Phenomena with Stadium-Sized Craft and Scientific Balloons

NASA is set to launch a series of stadium-sized craft over Antarctica as part of the Antarctic Long Duration Balloon (LDB) Campaign. The campaign will support five missions, including the GUSTO mission, which aims to study emissions from cosmic material and provide valuable information about the interstellar medium. Other missions will study cosmic ray electrons and positrons, test solar panels for extended flight duration, and measure background sound in Earth's stratosphere. The annual campaign will take advantage of the polar summer to achieve long-duration flights and gather scientific data in a near-space environment.
