Intuitive Machines' privately built lunar lander, named Odysseus, successfully touched down on the lunar surface, marking the first American vehicle to do so in over 50 years and the first commercial spacecraft to achieve this feat. The lander overcame a late-stage glitch and landed near the moon's south pole, carrying commercial cargo and NASA science instruments.
