Euclid Telescope Overcomes Navigation Issues with New Software

The European Space Agency (ESA) has resolved a software issue with the Euclid telescope that caused it to perform unexpected movements during initial tests. The problem occurred when the onboard pointing system mistook cosmic noise for faint stars, leading the spacecraft to reorient itself in the middle of a shot. The issue has been fixed by updating the telescope's software, although the main mission may take up to six months longer than planned. Euclid is designed to map the positions of 1.5 billion galaxies in three dimensions and carry out a deep survey of the Universe.
