Researchers at the Reconfigurable Robotics Lab have developed a modular, polygon-based robot called Mori3 that can change its size, shape, and function depending on the environment and task at hand. The robot can be assembled and disassembled at will and can operate as a swarm of triangle pieces that communicate with each other to form a functional structure. The researchers believe that Mori3 can one day assist astronauts on colonies on the Moon and Mars.
