PS5 Pro boosts visuals with a big AI upscaling update tonight

Sony is rolling out an upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) AI upscaler to PS5 Pro games with the latest system update, expanding support to titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Silent Hill 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and more. Digital Foundry testing says the update reduces shimmering artifacts and delivers crisper, more consistent graphics, thanks to AMD/Sony’s Project Amethyst work and a backport of FSR 4-style tech. The upgrade arrives in phases starting March 17 at 1 AM ET, with additional titles and patches (including Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Cyberpunk 2077) to follow in coming weeks; players can toggle PSSR on or off per title.
