Brazil sues BYD over alleged labor abuses

Brazilian prosecutors are suing Chinese EV manufacturer BYD and contractors over human trafficking and slavery-like conditions at a factory construction site in Bahia, where 220 workers were rescued and allegations include poor living conditions, passport confiscation, illegal employment contracts, and wage withholding. The plant was set to be BYD's first outside Asia, aiming to boost its presence in Brazil, its largest overseas market.
