Hamas' Lethal Arsenal and Training Tactics: A Closer Look
TL;DR
CNN analyzed photos and videos of Hamas militants during their recent attack on Israel, revealing their deadly arsenal comprised of homemade rockets, modified AK-47s, and decades-old Soviet machine guns. Many of the weapons appeared to be altered Russian or Chinese firearms, possibly left behind on battlefields in the past. Some experts believe certain firearms were supplied by Iran. Hamas also relies on hand grenades, drones, and unconventional methods like paragliders to carry out their attacks. The group's ability to scavenge and transform weapons for guerrilla warfare in the blockaded Gaza Strip poses a significant challenge for Israel's sophisticated military.
