"Perseid Meteor Shower Lights Up Summer Skies: Viewing Guide"

The annual Perseid meteor shower, one of the most dramatic of the year, has begun and will peak on the night of August 12 into the early morning of August 13. This meteor shower, caused by debris from comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle, can produce up to 100 meteors per hour in dark locations and is best viewed from midnight until dawn in the Northern Hemisphere.
