Artemis II: Orion Crew and Service Modules Successfully Connected for Moon Mission

NASA has successfully joined the crew and service modules for the Artemis II mission, paving the way for further testing and preparations. The crew module, provided by Lockheed Martin, will accommodate four astronauts and is larger than the Apollo command module. The service module, supplied by the European Space Agency and Airbus, will provide air, electricity, propulsion, and protection from space debris. The fully connected spacecraft is scheduled to fly astronauts around the moon and back in 2024.
