Oxygen Discovered in Venus' Atmosphere

Researchers using NASA's Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) have detected a thin layer of molecular oxygen in Venus' hellish atmosphere. This marks the first time oxygen has been observed in both the day-lit and night-side regions of the planet. However, the oxygen found on Venus is not breathable like on Earth, as it consists of single, free-floating oxygen atoms. The discovery highlights the need for further research on Venus and its complex atmosphere.
