Webb Telescope Uncovers Unseen Structures in Famous Supernova

Astronomers studying the famous supernova SN 1987A have made new observations using the James Webb Space Telescope, revealing a central structure shaped like a keyhole packed with clumpy gas and dust ejected by the explosion. The dense dust is so thick that even the advanced telescope cannot see through it, creating the "hole" shape. The observations also revealed small crescent-like structures believed to be part of the outer layers of gas shot out by the explosion. These new findings provide crucial clues to understanding how a supernova develops over time.
