East Coast Braces for Intense Storm System

A strong storm system that caused heavy rain and severe thunderstorms in Florida is now moving northeast, bringing heavy rain and severe thunderstorms to the Mid-Atlantic and New England. The storm broke daily rainfall records in central Florida and is expected to continue causing excessive downpours until Monday morning for most parts of the mid-Atlantic and East coasts, and until Tuesday for New England. North Carolina and eastern South Carolina may experience thunderstorms with lightning, strong winds, tornadoes, and a minimal threat of hail. Tallahassee, Florida, is forecasted to have strong winds with gusts up to 60 mph. The storm also caused power outages and postponed the undocking of SpaceX's Dragon cargo ship from the International Space Station.
