El Niño's Winter Impact: Snowfall Predictions and Relief for Rio Grande

Scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have released maps showing where snow is more or less likely during El Niño winters compared to average. While El Niño typically brings wetter weather to the southern US and drier weather to the north, it doesn't guarantee more snow. The maps highlight areas where snowfall is more likely during El Niño winters, with the mid-Atlantic, high elevations of the Southwest and California, and the South being the potential big snow winners. However, it still needs to be cold for snow to occur, so chances don't vary as much from normal in warmer regions.
