Mysterious Empty Tombs Unearthed in Ancient English Cathedral

Archaeologists excavating in Exeter Cathedral have discovered a burial crypt containing stone-lined tombs, including the remains of Bishop William Warelwast, nephew of William the Conqueror. The discovery challenges the previous belief that the cathedral lacked an inner crypt. The ongoing restoration project aims to preserve the structure and reduce its carbon footprint. Fragments of medieval tiles and a newspaper from 1962 were also found during the excavation. The findings provide valuable insights into the political, social, and religious dynamics of medieval England.
