McDonald's India Removes Tomatoes from Menu Amid Soaring Prices

McDonald's in India has temporarily stopped using tomatoes in its food preparations due to a shortage caused by adverse weather conditions. Wholesale prices of tomatoes in the country have surged by 288% in a month, prompting many people to reduce consumption. The global fast food chain cited supply shortages from severe monsoon rains as the reason for the tomato shortage. While one McDonald's franchisee attributed the issue to temporary seasonal problems, another franchisee stated that there were no serious tomato-related issues. As Indians cut back on tomatoes, some businesses are suggesting alternatives like using tomato puree instead.
