Israel's Determination to Dismantle Hamas and Secure Release of Hostages

Israel's military chief, Lieutenant-General Herzi Halevi, stated that Israel's first priority in the current Israel-Hamas war is to secure the safe release of all Israeli hostages held by Hamas. He vowed to continue fighting and ultimately dismantle Hamas' rule in Gaza after the current cease-fire expires. Halevi confirmed the release of 76 hostages but emphasized that many more remain kidnapped. He also mentioned that the cease-fire has strengthened Israel's readiness and operational planning. Despite an apparent violation of the truce, negotiators managed to resume the cease-fire and secure a deal for the release of additional hostages.
