Russian Commanders Killed in Eastern Ukraine Fighting.

Two senior Russian military officers have been killed in eastern Ukraine, according to Moscow’s Ministry of Defense, as Kyiv pledged its long-awaited counteroffensive will liberate occupied areas of Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied recent claims that Kyiv intends to strike Russian troops deep inside the neighboring country, saying they are preparing a counterattack for the illegally occupied areas based on their constitutionally-defined legitimate borders. The contested town of Bakhmut has seen fierce fighting as part of a weeks-long deadlock between the two sides, with Ukraine claiming recent territorial gains.
