Colorful Saqqara Tomb Sheds Light on End of Egypt's Fifth Dynasty

Spanish-Egyptian researchers have uncovered a well-preserved late Fifth Dynasty mastaba in Saqqara with two chapels and vividly colored reliefs depicting agricultural life and processions, including donkeys and animals. The tomb, commissioned by Yunmen with his father Iti, remains notably intact in its original colours, providing new data on architecture, art, and daily administration at the end of Egypt’s Old Kingdom. The team aims to map the necropolis more fully and excavate nearby monuments in future seasons.
