Russia-aligned hackers are targeting the UK's critical infrastructure, including energy and water supplies, with the aim of "disrupting or destroying" it, according to Cabinet Office minister Oliver Dowden. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has issued an official threat alert to critical businesses, warning that the groups, which are often sympathetic to Russia's invasion in Ukraine, are ideologically motivated and "less predictable" because they are not subject to formal state control.
