US Provides Iron Dome Batteries and Military Aid to Israel Amidst Controversy

The U.S. Army is reportedly planning to send its only two Iron Dome air defense systems to Israel to bolster its air defense capabilities amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas. The systems were originally purchased from Israel and are expected to be leased back to Israel within days. Israel currently has at least 10 Iron Dome batteries in operation. The U.S. Army had initially acquired the Iron Dome systems to meet interim cruise missile defense requirements but decided not to procure any additional systems due to networking issues. The U.S. Marine Corps is also looking to procure three batteries worth of Iron Dome systems.
