UN Warns of Unprecedented Food Insecurity Crisis in Gaza

The UN has warned that Gaza is facing a catastrophic hunger crisis, with everyone in the besieged coastal strip at risk of acute food insecurity in the coming weeks. A report by the UN and food security agencies revealed that four out of five households in the north of Gaza and half of those displaced in the south are enduring days without any food. The UN's hunger monitoring system predicts that by February 7th, the entire population in Gaza, about 2.2 million people, will be at crisis or worse levels of hunger. The situation is compounded by disease and exposure as winter sets in, with about 90% of Gaza's population displaced by the Israeli military offensive.
