Declining European Support Threatens Ukraine Aid

The proportion of European Union citizens who fully approve or totally agree with financial and military support for Ukraine has significantly decreased since the start of the Russian invasion, according to a recent Eurobarometer survey. While a majority still want to provide some assistance to Kyiv, support for military funding has fallen from 67% to 48%, and support for financial and economic aid has dropped from 80% to 64%. The survey also found a decline in support for sanctions on Russia and welcoming refugees from Ukraine. Concerns are rising in Kyiv that Western support may wane, especially with upcoming elections in the United States and several European countries.
